Civil/Sanitary/Environmental Engineer/Planner with Institutional Experience

DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will have at least a degree in engineering and experience in drainage and sewerage plus some experience in development planning. He/she will have at least 15 years of experience in drainage and/or wastewater utility service provision in the areas of planning, design options, operations, management and organizational development. He/she should be familiar with international drainage and wastewater collection and treatment technology options and good institutional and management practices for utility service provision and be experienced in managing multi-disciplinary teams preparing donor-funded drainage/wastewater projects. Experience with hydraulic modelling would also be an advantage. Experience in the urban drainage and/or wastewater sector internationally is required with preferably some experience in Africa.

REQUIREMENTS
  1. Organize and coordinate all project team membersin executing assigned task and drive the preparation of Drainage and Sanitation Development Plan and producing the required outputs/deliverables as will be set out.

Wastewater Engineer with experience in Wastewater Process Design – 9 Months

DESCRIPTION

The Wastewater Engineer will have at least a degree in civil/sanitary/environmental engineering and have experience in the planning and design of major wastewater collection and treatment projects. He/she will have at least 10 years of experience in planning and design of urban wastewater systems and should be familiar with all various wastewater treatment processes, their advantages, disadvantages and cost implications both capital and recurrent. Experience in the planning and design of initiatives to improve/provide urban wastewater systems internationally is required with preferably some experience in Africa.

REQUIREMENTS
  1. Organize and coordinate team members in guiding and executing the specific drainage related requirements of the assigned project and contribute to the Draft Drainage and Sanitation Development Plan particularly the wastewater aspects and providing the required outputs/deliverables.

DESCRIPTION

The Drainage Engineer will have at least a degree in engineering and experience in drainage and have experience in the planning of urban drainages and wastewater collection and treatment schemes.

He/she will have at least 10 years of experience in planning and engineering of urban drainage systems and in the hydraulic modelling of drainage systems. He/she should be familiar with and have experience with the planning of major drainage and wastewater collection systems including both “combined” and “separate systems”. Experience in urban drainage and wastewater sectors internationally is required with preferably some experience in Africa.

Financial Expert/Economics

DESCRIPTION

The Financial Expert/Economist will have at least a degree in accounting and/or economics and have experience in the cost estimating and economic analysis of major donor funded drainage/wastewater collection and treatment projects. He/she will have at least 10 years of experience in financial analysis and project economics and should be familiar with assessing cost implications (both capital and recurrent) and carrying out cost-benefit analyses of major drainage/wastewater projects. International experience is required with preferably some experience in Africa.

REQUIREMENTS
Specific Tasks-Financial
  • Assist the Team Lead and Engineers in costing and presenting costs for Drainage and Sanitation Plan and subsequently the priority projects;
  • Prepare project cost sheets in Excel in conjunction with the Engineers;
  • Prepare Projections of future incremental costs and assess likely funding to cover long term costs for projects which will implement Development Plans all as needed to ensure sustainability;
  • Review tariff policies, current tariff levels(if any), recommend user charges, assess pricing for the poor, assess willingness and ability to pay for different user groupson assigned projects;
  • Identify project cash flow requirements and recommend fund flow mechanisms and prepare an overall financing plan for the assigned project making assumptions as necessary;
  • Carry out a financial analysis of Sanitation and Drainage Plans with the objective that operation, maintenance, and eventually the investment costs of wastewater services will be entirely met from user charges
Specific Tasks-Economic
  • Review current economic and social development plans of the assigned project, describe the macroeconomic context within which the Plan and the initial priority project will be implemented;
  • Identify and outline, the project benefits (i.e. economic, environmental, health, visual, odor nuisance, etc.) of the drainage and wastewater collection and treatment components to be proposed;
  • Carry out an economic analysis of the assigned project and clearly identify the economic benefits.
  • Include in the economic analysis, a demand analysis, a cost benefit analysis, a risk analysis including determination of internal rates of return, sensitivity analysis, poverty impact ratios, assessment of subsidies etc.

Road Supervision Engineer

DESCRIPTION

The Road Supervision Engineer will provide the Project with quality engineering supervision services and give expert advice on assigned projects. The Road Supervision Engineer will be required to travel throughout the Country of Service for supervision of road construction works to ensure the interests of the company and the client are adhered to by and large. He/ She must have B. Sc in Civil Engineering. He/ She must have minimum of 10 (ten) years of progressively responsible experience in civil or road engineering. And a good knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer based design packages.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Carry out monitoring of the assigned road project progress.
  • Ensure the proper programming, recording, measurement and accounting of the works by means of contemporary management and measurement techniques.
  • Supervise the works and approve all materials, construction techniques and workmanship on a day-to-day basis.
  • Prepare and submit a detailed Daily, Weekly and Monthly Project Progress Report of all assigned projects.

Agric Engineer

DESCRIPTION

Studies, Design, Supervision &Commissioning of Agric Infrastructures (irrigation canal, drainage, and flood- and water-control systems. He/she musthaveB.Sc, Agric Engineering. He/She must possess 5 – 10 year work experience with 5 years in designing Agric Infrastructures and preferably for donor funded projects, (AfDB, WORLDBANK, JICA, USAID, UKAID, and DFID) and in oversight of their implementation/ compliance. He/ She should be conversant with relevant national and state environmental laws. He/ she must have at least 3 years’ experience in similar projects.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Plan, design, and supervise the building ofAgric Infrastructures (irrigation canal, drainage, and flood- and water-control systems.
  • Assist with designs using computer-aided design (CAD) technology
  • Design and evaluate equipment used for ground preparation, seeding, spraying, harvesting, and transporting agricultural goods.

DESCRIPTION

To maximise project margin and add value to the construction process by proactive involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting. To drive best value from suppliers and subcontractors. To carry out monthly financial reviews (CVR’s) on projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin. He/ she must have B. Sc. in Quantity Surveying and M. Sc. in Quantity Surveying. He/ she must have a minimum of 5 years quantity surveying experience

REQUIREMENTS
  • To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
  • Prepare and monitor project cashflow forecasts.
  • Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations.
  • Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.

In addition, will also prepare environmental documentation for water resources, regulatory program compliance, data management and analysis, and field work. Perform hydraulic modeling and pipeline design. He must have a B.Sc in Civil Engineering or Masters in Water Resources.

DESCRIPTION

To analyze, plan and design an irrigation system. This would include canals, barrage, drain, dams and other supporting system. He/ She must have BSc. Irrigation Engineering or any related course. He/She must possess a minimum of 10 year work experience and must have at least 5 years’ experience in Irrigation projects. He/She should be conversant with relevant national environmental laws. Post graduate qualification and or membership of a professional body will be an added advantage.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Plans, designs, and oversees construction of irrigation projects for transporting and distributing water to project sites.
  • Plans and designs irrigation fixtures and installation of fixtures to requirements and specifications.
  • Directs, through subordinate supervisors, construction supervision of such irrigation systems as dams, canals, and ditches, according to type of soil, climatic characteristics, water supply, return flow, and other factors affecting irrigation requirements.

IT Head

DESCRIPTION

The Group IT Head oversees all IT (Information Technology) functions in our company. He/ She will be in charge of a team of IT managers and manage the company’s technology operations and implementation of IT systems and policies. The Group IT Head must be very knowledgeable in IT and computer systems. The Group IT Head must have a solid technical background while being able to manage and motivate people. The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating and implementing IT policies and systems that will meet objectives.

Job Specification
  • Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established goals.
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
  • Purchase efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software.
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency.
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management.
  • Coordinate IT team and supervise computer scientists, technicians and other professionals to provide guidance.
  • Control budget and report on expenditure.
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Proven experience as IT Managed or similar role.
  2. Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
  3. Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  4. Experience in controlling information technology budget.
  5. Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  6. Outstanding communication abilities.
  7. BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus.
